The price we pay for flawless trim

Never underestimate the unexpected turns of home improvement. Tonight's challenge: escaping the living room via the bedroom window.

The price we pay for flawless trim
A room with a large arched window and several smaller windows is being painted. The windows are covered in blue painter's tape and a ladder is leaning against the wall. Furniture is covered with plastic sheeting.

Take a look at this black window—that's overspray, and trust me, it's everywhere. Spraying requires turning the room into a plastic cocoon because paint finds a way to defy gravity and lands everywhere. Sometimes, I think we should have hired the pros and moved out for a week. But here we are, DIY warriors determined to conquer the majority of this renovation.

ur living room is currently a disaster zone—you wouldn't even want to attempt walking through it. Last night, we resorted to a bedroom window escape for dinner (I slightly hope the neighbors were watching for their pure enjoyment). But hey, every project has its messy middle, right? The final reveal will be totally worth it!

We're tackling the final touches this weekend. We'll fill missed holes, sand down any rough-looking surface, and apply a second coat of paint.
