Paint rescues my outdated 90s office

Get ready for a serious before and after. We've been working on renovating my office for months, and we're finally nearing the finish line. While I appreciate a bright and airy aesthetic, I've found my heart lies with a more moody atmosphere. I'm drawn to environments that feel introspective and comforting. For me, these spaces inspire creativity, and since I spend countless hours in my office—a place where creativity is a must—I wanted this room to reflect that vibe.

After an endless search for the perfect paint color, I landed on "Antiquing JG-128" by Magnolia Home, a deep taupe that immediately transformed the entire feel of the room.

Here's a glimpse of the "before" state: the room was initially painted a light greenish beige, contrasting with a dark blue accent wall with board and batten that we removed. Its 90s aesthetic was glaringly obvious, with the honey oak trim and doors that further cemented the room's dated feel.

A room with wood flooring, a window with a brown frame, and a doorway leading to another room. The walls are light-colored, and the ceiling has a textured pattern. Some items are visible in the doorway.

And here's the transformation! I've said it before, and I'll say it again... it's crazy what a coat of paint can achieve. This room has become my absolute favorite – it's so cozy, and I'm genuinely excited to work from here every day. The crisp white trim and doors provide a beautiful contrast to the new wall color.

With the painting complete, the real fun begins – decorating! I'm excited to finally start bringing this space to life. To anchor the room, I've chosen a rug with a rich color palette. It will serve as the perfect foundation upon which I'll layer textures, patterns, and furnishings. I can't wait to see how it all comes together.
