Bringing our Japanese Maple back from the brink

With a little tender loving care, even a tree that seems doomed can make a remarkable recovery!

Bringing our Japanese Maple back from the brink

Last year, this Japanese Maple wasn’t looking its best. We even considered replacing it after a professional arborist we consulted mentioned it might not survive. Although the top of the tree was completely dead, it was still sending out sprouts at its base. This is usually a sign of stress and a last-ditch effort to survive. Fortunately, we held off on planting a new tree. This year it showed signs of improvement and seemed to be recovering.

We decided to help it along by removing dead branches and pruning it to encourage a stronger structure. He’s got a little trunk again! He’s looking much healthier and cuter than ever. Hopefully, with some love, it will continue to recover and grow big and beautiful!
